Baltimore, MD--October 2, 2008— Leadership researchers of the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland have recently taken on a new endeavor: discovering avenues through which to develop and apply leadership and assess where it already exists. As a final production of the highly respected and widely recognized Leadership Theory course with Professor William Smedick, student researchers at Johns Hopkins were charged with finding an organization where leadership exists and thoroughly examining the selected organization to assess its leadership. THALAS, LLC of San Francisco, CA was selected among other top tier organizations.

THALAS will be assessed on the following criteria: mission statement, day-to-day operations, organization and management, human resources, financial resources, facilities, technology and equipment, legal responsibilities, equity and access, external relations, diversity, and ethics. After an extensive research period in which the students involved conduct interviews of relevant company personnel, review documents and observe meetings, a 25 page summary recommendation will be made. For student researchers and contributors chosen to work with THALAS, this will be a hands-on process.

"I want to see Johns Hopkins' best and brightest students involved in what we're doing. They will learn from and explore new ways where leadership can manifest itself in business and the world at large, which can significantly impact the way they develop and work with others." said Joseph James Chung, the founder of THALAS and himself an alumnus of Johns Hopkins. "Thalas is a unique company, and we trust these student researchers will take away something special from this in depth study."

This project will be closely monitored by many from the Johns Hopkins community. It is also the hope of those involved that this will be the beginning of a long working relationship between Johns Hopkins and THALAS, both of which are institutions that develop leaders and foster creativity, originality and ingenuity.

THALAS, LLC was founded in 2004 and is headquartered out of San Francisco, California. As an organization, THALAS espouses a culture of empowerment and uses big picture and long term thinking in its approach. An early accomplishment of THALAS was the creation, expansion, and maintenance of truenorthleaders.com, a website, blog, and online community for Bill George, professor of leadership development at Harvard Business School and best selling author of Authentic Leadership and True North.
